Ver detalle de la Lanzarote D.O. / D.O.P.

FIGURES:

Vineyard surface (Has): 1,866– Wine-Growers: 1,859 – Wineries: 21 – 2019 Harvest rating: Very Good – Production 19: 2,242,272 litres – Market percentages: 97% National - 3% International.

LOCATION:

On the island of Lanzarote. The production area covers the municipal areas of Tinajo, Yaiza, San Bartolomé, Haría and Teguise.

CLIMATE:

Dry subtropical in nature, with low rainfall (about 200 mm per year) which is spread out irregularly throughout the year. On occasions, the Levante wind (easterly), characterised by its low humidity and which carries sand particles from the African continent, causes a considerable increase in the temperatures.

SOIL:

Volcanic in nature (locally known as ‘Picón’). In fact, the cultivation of vines is made possible thanks to the ability of the volcanic sand to perfectly retain the water from dew and the scant rainfall. The island is relatively flat (the maximum altitude is 670 m) and the most characteristic form of cultivation is in ‘hollows’ surrounded by semicircular walls which protect the plants from the wind. This particular vineyard layout brings about an extremely low density of vines per hectare.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

WHITE: malvasía (75%, majority), pedro ximénez, diego, listán blanco, moscatel, burra- blanca and breval.

RED: listán negra (15%) and negramoll.
