LOCATION:

In the province of Alicante (covering 51 municipal districts), and a small part of the province of Murcia. The vineyards extend over areas close to the coast (in the surroundings of the capital city of Alicante, and especially in the area of La Marina, a traditional producer of Moscatel), as well as in the interior of the province.

CLIMATE:

Distinction must be made between the vineyards situated closer to the coastline, where the climate is clearly Mediterranean and somewhat more humid, and those inland, which receive continental influences and have a lower level of rainfall.

SOIL:

In general, the majority of the soils in the region are of a dun limestone type, with little clay and hardly any organic matter.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

WHITE: merseguera, moscatel de Alejandría, macabeo, planta fina, verdil, airén, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.

RED: monastrell, garnacha tinta (gironet), garnacha tintorera (alicante bouschet), bobal, tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir, syrah and petit verdot.
