LOCATION:

On the southern plateau in the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo. It is the largest wine-growing region in Spain and in the world.

CLIMATE:

Extreme continental, with temperatures ranging between 40/45°C in summer and –10/12°C in winter. Rather low rainfall, with an average of about 375 mm per year.

SOIL:

The terrain is flat and the vineyards are situated at an altitude of about 700 m above sea level. The soil is generally sandy, limy and clayey.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

WHITE: airén (majority), macabeo, pardilla, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, verdejo, moscatel de grano menudo, gewürztraminer, parellada, pedro ximénez, riesling and  torrontés.

RED: cencibel (majority amongst red varieties), garnacha, moravia, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, petit verdot, bobal, cabernet franc, graciano, malbec, mencía, monastrell and pinot noir.
