LOCATION:

The Denomination of Origin Campo de Borja is made up of 16 municipal areas, situated in the north west of the province of Zaragoza and 60 km from the capital city, in an area of transition between the mountains of the Sistema Ibérico (at the foot of the Moncayo) and the Ebro Valley: Agón, Ainzón, Alberite, Albeta, Ambel, Bisimbre, Borja, Bulbuente, Burueta, El Buste, Fuendejalón, Magallón, Malejan, Pozuelo de Aragón, Tabuenca and Vera del Moncayo.

CLIMATE:

A rather extreme continental climate, with cold winters and dry, hot summers. One of its main characteristics is the influence of the ‘Cierzo’, a cold and dry north - westerly wind. Rainfall is rather scarce, with an average of between 350 and 450 mm per year

SOIL:

The most abundant are brownish - grey limey soils, terrace soils and clayey ferrous soils. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of between 350 and 700 m on small slightly rolling hillsides, on terraces of the Huecha river and the Llanos de Plasencia, making up the Somontano del Moncayo.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

WHITE: macabeo, garnacha blanca, moscatel, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, viognier and verdejo.

REDgarnacha (majority with 75%), tempranillo, mazuela, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, caladoc and marselan.
