LOCATION:

In the central region on the island of Majorca. It covers the municipal areas of Santa María del Camí, Binissalem, Sencelles, Consell and Santa Eugenia.

CLIMATE:

Mild Mediterranean, with dry, hot summers and short winters. The average rainfall per year is around 450 mm. The production region is protected from the northerly winds by the Sierra de Tramuntana and the Sierra de Alfabia mountain ranges.

SOIL:

The soil is of a brownish - grey or dun limey type, with limestone crusts on occasions. The slopes are quite gentle, and the vineyards are situated at an altitude ranging from 75 to 200 m.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

WHITE: moll or prensal blanc (46 has.), macabeo, parellada, moscatel and chardonnay.

RED: manto negro (preferential: 229 has.), callet, tempranillo, syrah, monastrell, cabernet sauvignon (second red variety: 56 has.) and merlot.

New Authorised Varieties: gorgollassa and giró ros.
